Together for Sustainable Development in Croatia
Overall objective
To strengthen the voice of civil sector in shaping, monitoring and evaluating sustainable development policies on local, national and international level through networking, cross-sectoral partnership and capacity building.
Specific objectives

To strengthen capacity and influence of the national civil society networks to make them recognized partners to the public sector in M&E of sustainable development policies on all levels, following the relevant EU practices

To strengthen capacities and develop new capabilities of the local/regional CSOs dealing with sustainable local development, including local development partnerships-LAGs

Target groups

app. 60 trainees from local CSOs and other relevant stakeholders from three rural regions

Expected results
1.1. Cooperation of the Croatian civil society networks and organizations with eminent
European organizations and networks dealing with monitoring and evaluation of
sustainable development policies strengthened
1.2. Mutual cooperation increased and competences of the Croatian civil society organizations
and networks upgraded in multi-sectoral dialogue on sustainable development; crosssectoral
partnership enhanced
2.1. Capabilities of stakeholders for sustainable development and level of citizen and CSO
participation in the process of monitoring of sustainable rural policies increased in three
rural areas
Main activities
Networking at EU level
1.1.1. Intensify and formalize cooperation with the relevant EU-based networks in order to
increase effectiveness of advocacy undertaken by the Croatian civil society networks
1.1.2. Gain knowledge and learn methods from relevant EU organizations related to M&E of
sustainable development policies and preparation of shadow reports
Networking and policy advocacy actions at Croatian level
1.2.1. Increase the scope of activities and membership, upgrade organizational capacities of the
Croatian Rural Development Network (HMRR) and Community Network (MLR)
1.2.2. Enhance structured dialogue and consultations of CSOs and networks with the public
administration, using methods and practices of the EU based CSOs
Capacity building
2.1.1. Develop and provide training programme for CSOs and other relevant stakeholders acting
on the sub-regional level and enhance local development partnerships for implementation
of local sustainable development plans
Technical assistance
2.2.1. Encourage civil society active participation in the consultation processes related to
monitoring of sustainable / regional / rural policies and provide technical assistance to
local partnerships
2.2.2. Intensify work with media and inform public on implementation of sustainable
development policies
