Croatian and Slovenian rural development networks were hosts and co-organizers of the international PREPARE event 2009. PREPARE –
Pre-accession Partnerships for Rural Europe
www.preparenetwork.org) – aims to strengthen civil society and promote transnational cooperation in rural development, especially in the new member states, accession countries and the “new neighbour countries” of the enlarged EU.

The Partnership members are European and national civil society organizations (CSO) from Central and North Europe. Traditional annual gatherings open opportunities to meeting, linking together and exchanging experiences and practices between different stakeholders -  representatives of civil society, public and business sector from the EU member states, candidate countries, countries in accession and those preparing for accession to the EU in the area of South-East and East Europe. The main objectives are to share views on the current challenges of rural development in Europe, to stimulate exchange between rural actors from different parts of the continent and to strengthen the voice of civil sector in the multi-sectoral dialogue on the issues of rural development.
