LAG Four Rivers

Local action group «Four Rivers» was founded on 21 May 2009, as part of a pilot project of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development in the implementation of SAPARD / IPA-RD Programme, titled: Integrated local development under the LEADER approach.

LAG «Four Rivers» includes a rural area of City of Sisak and Municipality Martinska Ves, which has a total of 17 715 inhabitants and covers an area 547.57 km2. There are 28 members from all three sectors (public, private and
civil - CSO).

Characteristics of the LAG area are characterized by flows of the Sava, Kupa, Odra and Lonja rivers, which provide a common and specific expression of the entire region.

In the phase of establishment LAG members have developed and adopted a Local development strategy in which, by the basic analysis of LAG area, are also stated common goals and specific projects that are of the primary importance for the LAG. Emphasis was thereby placed on the infrastructure development, small and medium enterprises and rural tourism, with a concern for environmental preservation, especially in protected areas in the LAG - the Nature Park Lonjsko polje. The strategy will be developed further and expand together with the development of LAG and activities that are essential for development in this area.

The main aim of the LAG is to encourage and support all joint initiatives and individual projects for the purpose of faster and stronger economic and social development and to create better living conditions in rural areas where LAG operates, with the active participation of all the necessary structures of society, economy and institutions whose actions can help the implementation of activities that brings progress.
